Bundle up! Frigid wind chills Tuesday will make it feel like the single digits
Numbing cold has returned for a one-day stand. Wind chills have dropped to the single digits above and below zero as winds continue to gust over 20 mph. Some of that wind will drop off in the mid/late afternoon, but we’re still be in the cold through Tuesday night. On Wednesday, the warmup will begin with a shift in the wind direction. While daytime highs stay in the upper 20s, we should move the needle into the 30s into the evening and late night. There may be some light mix or snow showers (with no/minor accumulation) into the overnight, then sun returns on Thursday. It’s then that we could pop into the low 40s before the arctic front arrives at night. Cold air funnels in on Friday as winds increase and sun holds on. While highs near freezing, we should see temperatures drop later in the day. We’ll continue to fall through Saturday as the bitter air seizes all of New England. Both weekend days will struggle to make the mid-teens. We have our eyes on a sprawling storm system across the Deep South later this week. Snow, mix, serious icing and sub-freezing temperatures will grip the region. Some of that snow could creep up into New England by the late weekend. With such cold air in place, it wouldn’t take much to get the flakes going. Accumulation is another matter, and one that we will ease into over the next couple of days.

Sal's Ristorante & Pizzeria, Broadway's Best in South Boston robbed
Beloved Southie small business Sal’s Ristorante & Pizzeria was robbed early Sunday morning. At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, a man, dressed in all black, including a face covering, rolled up on a scooter, broke the front door, entered, and stole cash. The Boston Police Department was called, and a report was made. Ten minutes later, Broadway’s Best was robbed. The South Boston Chamber of Commerce commented on the two robberies in a social media post Sunday. “Beyond the financial loss, this is a concerning and dangerous situation for our community,” the post said. “Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.” The post Sal’s Ristorante & Pizzeria was robbed early Sunday morning. appeared first on Caught In Southie.
