Big 12 referees suspended Two assistant coaches from a high school football program in the state of Mississippi have received punishment for their controversial antics during a recent playoff game. Brookhaven Academy will be without Hunter Przytarski and Bubba Keene in the 2026 season, and potentially beyond. Their bans are the result of a dirty push to an opposing player. The Panthers recently matched up with the Lamar Raiders in the MAIS 4A-D3 Football Championship at Robinson-Hale Stadium on the campus of Mississippi College. Lamar would leave with a 34-17 title win. The final result was not talking point after the game, however. Instead, it was a brawl the erupted in the second quarter of play. The mayhem was sparked by the actions of an assistant coach on the Brookhaven sidelines after Lamar QB Sullivan Reed was forced out of bounds on an offensive carry. As Reed made his way to the sidelines, he was unexpectedly shoved by the coach. After tumbling to the ground, the signal caller retaliated by throwing the ball in the direction of the staffer. The ball missed its mark, instead hitting a Brookhaven player. A second Panthers staff member then put his hands on the quarterback. A melee broke out. Reed was ejected from the game. Now, further punishment has been handed down. MAIS hands down lengthy bans. They were each fined $1,000. In order to return to coaching after their bans, they must appear in front of a committee to explain why they should be allowed back. It was noted that both coaches made “aggressive and forceful contact with a student-athlete.” Brookhaven will be without the two assistants for at least one season.
