Hyderabad: Olympian Gurpreet Singh’s ninth-place finish was the best result Indian shooters could manage, as they failed to secure any medals in the 25m Standard Pistol event at the Olympic Shooting Range in Cairo, Egypt. China’s Yao Qianxun continued her impressive run at the world championships, clinching her third individual gold medal, adding to the 10m Air Pistol mixed team gold and a silver in the 25m Sports Pistol event. Adrian Schaub of Switzerland emerged as the men’s world champion. India remained in third position behind China and South Korea in the medal tally with three gold, five silver, and four bronze medals. China leads with 12 gold, seven silver, and two bronze medals, while Korea has seven gold and three each of silver and bronze. In the men’s event, Gurpreet Singh shot a total of 571-14x for his ninth-place finish. Fellow shooters Udhayveer Sidhu and Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu finished 23rd and 24th with scores of 561-9x and 559-6x respectively. Yeongjae Cho of South Korea won silver, while Ukraine’s Pavlo Korostylov claimed bronze. In the women’s category, Parisha Gupta finished 10th—the highest among Indian shooters—with a score of 556-11x. Shikha Chaudhary shot 555-11x to finish 12th, while Agam Grewal scored 547-9x for 19th place.

HYPEX 2025: Numismatic exhibition showcases rare coins and currency
Hyderabad: Showcasing rare coins and currency notes, a numismatic exhibition, HYPEX 2025, organised by the Hyderabad Philatelic & Hobbies Society in the city, is attracting a large number of enthusiasts and collectors. A total of 57 numismatists-cum-traders from all over India are taking part in the event at FTCCI House, Red Hills, that features a diverse collection, including ancient sikka, colonial-era currency, and commemorative notes. Unique rare coins made of gold, silver, copper, and lead, along with currency from different countries, are on display. The wide array presented includes historical and contemporary currency from around the world and rare coins, some dating back several centuries. The collection includes coins from ancient civilizations as well as limited edition currency notes from various countries. Experts were present to provide insights into the history and significance of the items on display. The exhibition aims to promote awareness about the rich heritage of Indian numismatics and encourage the younger generation to take up coin collecting as a hobby, the organizers said. The visitors to the event included youngsters and school students. The ongoing HYPEX 2025 will conclude on Sunday.
